Halycon: Ransomware Resilience w/ Dell
This was a booth video i created for Halcyon, the world's greatest adversary to ransomware attackers. It was part of their popup presence at a Las Vegas tech conference, playing on repeat and offering visitors a moody, memorable impression of the brand.
The Concept
In the world of ransomware, the cyber criminal is recognized by his sinister fedora, either lurking in the shadows or fleeing the scene with looted data.
My idea was to depict the malware itself as a creepy crawling executable, i.e. a small glowing worm, moving laterally and undetected. Thus the overall premise becomes a gritty cartoon cyber-noir thriller in which our hero Halcyon casually squashes the threat with an unbothered Dell PC.
Bringing this concept to life employed a mix of handdrawn illustration, 3d, vector graphics, and photographic texture.
End-to-end
In a cyclical viewing context, the latter portion serves to refresh the action and capture new attention. After the video repeats a few times, it becomes a backdrop to real life, where human representatives can engage face-to-face with prospective customers at the event.
